Students are full of beans after coffee pitch in high-powered boardroom

Felsted School students gained valuable business experience when they stepped into the boardroom of an international hotel company to present their sustainable coffee brand.

Pupils as young as 11 joined senior and sixth form school pupils at the presentation to executives from the Hamilton Pyramid Group at its London office in Canary Wharf.

They presented Safi Coffee, the Arabica coffee grown by the families of Felsted’s partner school, Great Lakes High School in Uganda.

Sales have supported the building of four primary schools and a secondary school, and it costs just £180 to provide a child in Uganda with education, boarding, food, fresh water and some health care.

Year 12 student Lukas said: “It is amazing to see the impact one can have on the greater good through little things like these.”

Safi Coffee is grown on the borders of the Bwindi Impenetrable Rainforest. It is a partnership of four schools in the UK and Great Lakes high.

“Going to meet Hamilton Hotels was a fantastic experience that taught me a lot,” said Year 7 pupil Anya.

“I have heard a lot about business meetings like these and I am very privileged to actually take part in one and make the case for something as beneficial as Safi.”
