Stationery chain Paperchase sees Phase Eight shop as the right fit

International stationery chain Paperchase is set to open a shop in Bishop’s Stortford.

The 54-year-old British brand, which has 125 stores across the UK and outlets in Europe, the USA and Middle East, has asked East Herts Council for planning permission to alter the fascia of 28 Potter Street.

The 106.8 sq m (1,150 sq ft) town centre premises are currently occupied by women’s wear shop Phase Eight and are on the market with South Street commercial property agent Coke Gearing at an annual rent of £48,950. The building is currently under offer.

In High Street, the 62 sq m (645 sq ft) building formerly occupied by Annabelle’s is on the market for £13,500 per annum. The beautician and hair stylist has moved to a new base in South Street.

Another former salon and barber in Hockerill Street, previously Mr Snips and Hockerill Hair, is for sale freehold. The asking price for the 25 sq m (270 sq ft) property is £105,000.

A food and drink outlet in South Street is also back on the market. Formerly run by Dimitrios Tsioupas and his wife Vaida before they moved their Nostimo business to the corner of Market Square and Bridge Street, it has since been Café Rishi, Firenze, Sapori and, most recently, LuPrimitivu, selling pizza and coffee. The 73 sq m (790 sq ft) premises are available for £18,000 a year.
