In-House Legal Advisor
We are currently recruiting for an In-house Legal Advisor to join our clients based in Chelmsford.
This key role reports directly to the board of directors, where you’ll be instrumental in shaping their legal and compliance strategies. From advising on contracts to resolving consumer disputes and supporting commercial decision-making, you’ll play a pivotal role in protecting and advancing the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Legal Support: Advise on a wide range of legal matters, including supplier and customer agreements, litigation, consumer issues (e.g., FOS disputes), and property matters.
- Contractual Expertise: Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts that align with business goals while mitigating legal risks.
- Litigation Management: Oversee civil litigation claims from start to resolution, preparing and managing all necessary documentation.
- Regulatory and Compliance Leadership: Collaborate with the Compliance and HR teams to maintain and improve governance processes, policies, and precedents.
- Strategic Partnering: Liaise with lenders and external parties to negotiate terms, agreements, and resolve consumer-related issues.
- Internal Training: Prepare and deliver training sessions to equip teams with practical legal knowledge.
- External Relationships: Build and manage relationships with external legal service providers to ensure cost-effective outcomes.
- Reporting: Assist with regulatory submissions and reporting, including FCA returns, in partnership with internal departments.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Qualified solicitor with 2+ years of post-qualification experience in corporate, commercial, or consumer law.
- Proven track record of drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
- Litigation and consumer experience is highly desirable.
- Exceptional analytical skills, capable of distilling complex legal concepts into clear, actionable advice.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the confidence to interact at all organisational levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other legal technology tools.
