Export Customs Administrator
We are currently recruiting for an Export Customs Administrator to join a large Logistical company based in Witham.
Working as an Export Customs Administrator involves the preparation of Customs documentation so that client goods can exit the UK and enter the EU (and other non UK countries), whilst ensuring all legal requirements are met in accordance with HMRC regulations.
Main Duties:
•Recognise client export commercial invoice(s) and packing list(s) extracting data as necessary to complete export declarations and comply with HMRC regulations.
•Liaising with exporters and internal operational colleagues to obtain mandatory information for export entries.
•Entering export shipment details onto specialised Customs software, CDS, NCTS, NES, GVMS & TSS etc. to allow goods to depart from the UK.
•Ensuring the highest standards of customer service, ensuring customs entries are completed on time.
•Customs compliance within the team
•Data accuracy in filling in details of the consignments.
Skills Required:
Essential
•Excellent interpersonal skills due to engagement with various agencies on a daily basis.
•Customer focused, with liaison both internally with colleagues, and externally with clients.
•Ability to operate windows based applications and any other software that is standard within the industry.
•Fully conversant with Customs applications such as CDS, NCTS, NES, GVMS & TSS.
•Numerical and analytical skills, paying attention to detail.
•Self-motivating and be able to organise your work effectively and maintain records.
•Ability to work in a fast paced European groupage environment were timely processing of customs documentation is essential.
•Excellent administration skills.
•Recognised pass rate for GCSE in Maths and English
Desirable
•Demonstrate experience within an operational Customs environment, managing International Logistics Customs documentation.
•Demonstrate experience of managing HMRC obligations around Customs/import/export.
•Ideally fully conversant with customs software Sequoia, Descartes specifically.
•Recognised academic qualifications within the Customs Industry would be advantageous.
•Has well-established contacts or able to navigate departments within HMRC and Border Force to support query management quicky and efficiently.
•Educated to A-Level / Degree level desired but not essential.
