GoGetters delivers deal to acquire Stortford food delivery business

A Bishop’s Stortford food delivery business, founded in response to Covid-19, has been acquired by GoGetters.

From Thursday (Sept 15) the premium food ordering and delivery platform, founded in 2016 by pals Owen Barrow and Lee Nicolaou, will incorporate AssociatedGETS.

The spin-off of the AssociatedTAXI business was launched during the coronavirus pandemic to answer the spike in demand for food delivery services and as a means of supporting drivers as demand for taxis slumped during lockdown.

As restrictions have eased, the Associated Group made the decision to refocus on its growing taxi business.

Jack Doherty, director of AssociatedGETS, said: “I’m incredibly proud of the business we managed to build in extremely testing conditions and I was adamant that I would only hand over the AssociatedGETS service to a proven, quality provider who would maintain the quality of service we provide to our restaurant partners and customers. In GoGetters we’ve found exactly that.”

Orders placed with GoGetters have quadrupled since 2019, with more than 80,000 customers buying from 220 independent restaurants across Hertfordshire, Essex and Bedfordshire.

GoGetters plans to integrate AssociatedGETS food ordering and delivery for Bishop’s Stortford, Sawbridgeworth, Stansted Mountfitchet, Takeley and Great Dunmow into its own services.

Simon Wingrove, chief executive of GoGetters, said: “Our aim is simple: to be the very best food delivery provider to each community we serve, showcasing the best of local, independent restaurants and produce. So when the opportunity arose to acquire another highly-regarded delivery provider who, like ourselves, exclusively supported quality independent restaurants, we didn’t hesitate.

“The purchase has allowed us to strengthen our market leadership position in Bishop’s Stortford whilst also extending our services to vibrant independent restaurant communities such as Great Dunmow and Stansted Mountfitchet.”

GoGetters has evolved to cover more than 35 towns and recently secured finance from investors led by Addison Lee chief executive Liam Griffin.

Owen, from Harlow, said: “We’ve already received an overwhelmingly positive reception from AssociatedGETS restaurant partners and we can’t wait to work with them to deliver their amazing food to satisfied customers, cementing GoGetters’ position as the premium delivery app of choice in Bishop’s Stortford and beyond.”
