Dazzling display earns Vinegar Hill charity’s festive shop window title

Vinegar Hill has been crowned top of the shops after winning the battle to be crowned Bishop’s Stortford’s Christmas number one in a charity fundraiser.

The home, fashion and lifestyle brand’s store in Jackson Square, fronting Market Square, wowed the judges to be crowned the Isabel Hospice Christmas Shop Window Competition champion for 2022.

The dazzling display was created by store manager Ellie – the brand’s only store manager to do their own window displays – and took the honours ahead of 25 other town centre entrants in the annual event.

The shop, which is in the former Joules outlet, opened in the town in November 2021 and became the independent family-run business’ 12th premises.

South Street’s Barnes Flooring, with its The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe-inspired display, and Church Street’s Carla’s Curios & Creations tied for second place.

Isabel Hospice’s Renee Friend, who is chairwoman of the Bishop’s Stortford Support Group, was accompanied on a tour of the shops by three judges: Bishop’s Stortford BID (Business Improvement District) manager Gina Thomas, Corrina Savage from Jackson Square and town mayor Cllr Dave Anderson.
