New man in charge of Bishop’s Stortford Means Business as founder steps down

Bob Lee is passing on the Bishop’s Stortford Means Business reins after more than 20 years at the helm.

The founder of the town’s annual business expo, which was first held in 2001, has decided it is time to step back from organising the event.

Brett Shohet, of Brentwood-based B7 Media Group, will now be in charge of running the business showcase at South Mill Arts, which this year takes place on Wednesday October 18.

B7 Media Group publishes the VISION magazines and is a marketing, design and event specialist. Lee will continue to be involved in BSMB this year, but in a support role only.

“I have decided it is time to pass on the job of running BSMB. I think it needs a younger person with more energy and some fresh ideas to take the event forward,” said Lee, who runs Stortford-based Marketing Kinetics.

“I have reached an agreement with Brett Shohet of B7 Media Group for him to take over. Brett is already accustomed to supporting local businesses and will look to continue the ethos of the exhibition.

“I am sure he will bring creative ideas to support both new and loyal exhibitors and work to encourage even more visitors to attend.”

Last year’s BSMB attracted around 320 participants – visitors and exhibitors – with 56 stands, two seminars and a speed networking session.

And plans for this autumn’s edition are already at an advanced stage with more than a fifth of the stands being snapped up soon after the conclusion of the last one.
