Stansted Airport continues its mentoring programme with secondary school

A confidence-building programme by staff at Stansted Airport is delivering results for students at Forest Hall School.

Year 11 pupils at the Stansted secondary are being mentored every two weeks by 10 MAG (Manchester Airports Group) employees.

As well as help with compiling their CVs and planning their career paths, the teenagers get a chance to spend time at the airport shadowing their mentor.

Chris Wade, head of Year 11, said: “Forest Hall School is delighted to continue our mentoring programme with London Stansted Airport for another year.

“The mentors help our students to prepare for their GCSE exams as well as assist with career planning.

“Having mentors who have backgrounds other than teaching can offer links to careers that students may want to pursue, as well as a glimpse into the duties and responsibilities of working in the business world.

“These sessions have always benefitted our students in terms of their academic achievement and personal growth, particularly in their confidence in speaking with adults.”
