When we move into a new year, many of us make resolutions to improve our lives and be more productive.

So here are some tech-related resolutions that can help you make the most of your time and achieve your goals in 2023.

Declutter your digital space

A cluttered desktop or inbox can be overwhelming and make it difficult to focus. Start the new year off by organising your digital files and deleting any unnecessary ones.

You could also consider using a task management tool to keep track of your to-do list and schedule.

If you are already using Microsoft 365 you can make use of their in-built tasks and planner tools, which integrate nicely with your emails and other office apps. Otherwise, checkout Any.do or Todoist, which are great alternatives.

Set up a system for organising tasks and appointments

Whether you prefer a paper planner or a digital calendar, having a clear system for keeping track of your tasks and appointments can help you stay on top of your responsibilities.

Take some time to set up a system that works for you and make a habit of regularly reviewing and updating it.

Take breaks from screens

Spending too much time in front of screens can lead to eye strain, fatigue and decreased productivity. Make a resolution to take regular breaks from screens to give your eyes and mind a chance to rest.

You could try setting an alarm to remind you to take a break or consider using a screen-time tracking app to monitor your usage.

Using a pomodoro timer to track time and break tasks into manageable tasks whilst leaving time for breaks has really helped me.

Backup your data

Losing important data can be a frustrating and time-consuming experience. Make a resolution to regularly backup your data to prevent loss in the event of a hardware failure or other disaster.

You can use an external hard drive, cloud storage service or both to ensure that your data is safe and secure.

Get rid of unnecessary apps

Over time, it’s easy to accumulate many apps on your phone or computer that you no longer use.

Take some time to go through your apps and delete any that you no longer need. This can free up storage space and make it easier to find the apps that you do use.

By following these resolutions, you can start the new year off on the right foot and make the most of your time and resources. Happy new year!
