Chance for small firms to board Stansted Airport supply chain

Small businesses will once again have the opportunity to become suppliers to Stansted Airport companies with the return of Meet the Buyers.

The event at the Radisson Blu Hotel on Tuesday November 22 will be the first face to face for three years because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

A host of big-name buyers will be looking to connect with small businesses and suppliers from across Essex, Hertfordshire, Suffolk and east London.

Among the organisations already signed up are airport owner Manchester Airports Group (MAG), Essex County Council, power generation equipment supplier Aggreko, property consultants Strutt & Parker, electrical and mechanical engineering firm Levertech and Stansted Airport College.

Marcella M’Rabety, group head of education, skills and employment at MAG, said: “Meet the Buyers is so important to the airport and the local business community, and we’re delighted to have it back up and running.

“It is an excellent example of how Stansted can support local companies by providing a platform for them to meet a wide range of businesses and showcase what they have to offer. As an international transport hub, we have a long and proud history of partnering with local businesses to maximise and spread its economic benefits.

“Over the last eight years, Meet the Buyers has helped generate more than £20m worth of contracts, and this year’s attendees have said they are actively seeking new suppliers for various products and services.

“There are only a limited number of appointments available, so SMEs looking to win new business and get ahead of their competitors are encouraged to book a place as soon as possible.”

Bob Lee, from Bishop’s Stortford firm Marketing Kinetics, said: “Meet the Buyers is such an important event in the calendar for local businesses, so I’m thrilled it’s back. It provides a fantastic opportunity for small businesses to develop their business by pitching directly to a group of major airport suppliers all under one roof.”
